Yea! It’s February again! And I love February–after all, it is the month of love.
And I think it is a wonderful time to not only pay tribute to those we love— romantically and platonically–but also to remember all the things that make life worth loving.
Here is my short list in no particular order:
I love, love whole days with nothing to do… and filling up those empty hours reading, reading, and more reading.
I love, love a beautiful arrangement of words that make me go aha… and how slipping between the clean, cool sheets of a well-made bed makes me luxuriously exhale a sigh.
I love, love coarsely shredded, sharp Mammoth cheddar cheese neatly sandwiched between good bread smeared with European butter on all four sides and s-l-o-w-l-y grilled in a cast-iron skillet until it is transformed into a gloriously golden-coloured; lovely crusty; lip-smacking, drool-worthy cheesy marvel of exquisite deliciousness… and a fresh mixed baby greens salad tossed with just enough (but not too much) pecans, cranberries, and feta cheese, and then lightly dressed with a homemade champagne vinaigrette.
I love, love how peonies stun me… and how happy daisies make me.
What makes life worth loving?
I love, love how silence brings me peace and gives my mind respite… and the soul-soothing voice of Don Williams.
I love, love the stillness of the dark… and the sound of the pitter-patter of raindrops on the roof.
I love, love pretty, ladylike dresses (especially if made with my own two hands) in colours, prints, and textures that beg pretty please to be caressed… and really cute and comfortable shoes.
I love, love, love it when my mum lightly caresses the nape of my neck when I feel stressed… and how it spontaneously subdues me.
Finally, I love, love living simply, loving well, and finally knowing that I am enough.
