Love, Paradise, & Johnny Cash

Like Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett, and Spock and Captain Kirk, theirs was a great love story.

He was married with children. She was married with children. And maybe it was wrong, wrong, wrong. And I do not condone infidelity.

And whatever!

Honestly, I go totally stupid crazy for great love stories. You know, the kind of love that can transform or ruin one’s life. And Johnny Cash and June Carter and how they fell into a “burning ring of fire” is up there with the best of them.

Sometimes, “paradise” is local.

And I love, love Johnny’s definition of finding his version of “paradise” in an everyday moment with the great love of his life.

{Click “burning ring of fire” to listen. June wrote this song about her feelings for Johnny and how she fought and failed to deny them.}

Call to action: Where and with whom have you found paradise?

  1. Sadly, I have never found it! I am still looking for my paradise, and as the saying goes, where there is life there is hope. Therefore, I am living in a state of hope.

  2. I shudder at the bastardization of my beloved Pride & Prejudice. We do live in a crass world! And for me, these stories of great love are one thing that make it bearable. Now, no more talk of Pride and Prejudice in the same breath with zombies!
