Why I Write

Writing is thinking, feeling, hurting in print.

For some of us, it takes nerves of steel to write and then publish our thoughts and vulnerabilities and open ourselves to misunderstanding, labeling, and commenting abuse.

When hitting the Publish button fills the pit of my stomach with dread, I remind myself why I write —

I write because some things need to be said, have to be said.

I write to share my dream of compassion and charity for all life.

I write my thoughts and feelings, because it may provide solace to one.

I write because I hope to connect with like-minded souls and hearts.

Lastly, I write because my mum believes I can — and I want her to be proud of me.

And no, we don’t have to be famous, rich, or notorious for our voices to have merit.

So, why do you write?
