Love Is Radiant, True, Hopeful

Love, the most powerful force on Earth, has different faces. This was originally my opening line. Really?! Yes, I know, it is trite, tired, and what a mother lode of ca-ca!

If we look around us, love often seems permanently missing in actio). Today, we are deeply connected to our smartphones and social media and deeply disconnected from our “in real life (IRL)” family and friends; people fall in and out of “love” as often as they change undies; and then there’s all that the evil sh*t on the evening news.

I don’t know about you, but I find myself asking this question a lot: “Where’s the love?”

Frankly, this morning, my head effing hurts; I’m effing tired of weeks of frigid weather; I feel like my effing love boat sunk before it ever left port; and it’s been effing forever since I’ve been flung into the heavens and my everyday reality shattered by love. Yes, I’m feeling effing sorry for myself.

True, I’ve been blessed with parents who love me and more than my share of true, blue friends, but I greedily wanted real, passionate love too. Instead, life has stamped a big giant DENIED across my forehead.

There, I said it — the ugly truth. Now, I will leave you with the lovely images of love at the start of this post:

  • The young father falling madly and deeply in love with his baby girl is proof of love at first sight and is love at its most radiant;
  • The love between you and your chosen family — your friends, your tribe — is as true as it gets if you choose wisely; and
  • The love between lovers is, well, hope eternal.

And this thought:

Whatever form love takes, it is an awesome force. It’s the only thing that makes this whole business of life worth it. It’s everything: The beginning. The middle. The end.
