It was independence for some but certainly not for all.
I refuse to celebrate Independence Day. In the United States, this is the day that marks this country’s adoption of the lofty document of lies and damn lies called the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
Egg plus sperm: Could it be Happy Father’s Day?
Moms get so much of the glory — and deservedly so. But, sometimes, it seems fathers and their value is under appreciated and undervalued. And that just isn’t right!
Because while he does not carry and push life out into this world, a father is an essential contributor to its creation. And his continued presence and involvement is essential if the child he helped to create is to thrive spiritually, emotionally, and mentally.

In the U.S.A, on the last Monday in the month of May, we take a day to remember — to remember all the men and women who have died while serving in our country’s armed forces. Monday is Memorial Day — and it’s a day of sorrow.
Mother’s Day is every day
Tomorrow is Mother’s Day. Thanks to Anna Jarvis, it’s the day designated to honor our moms. On this day, children everywhere galvanize to send flowers and chocolates; take mom to dinner; or at the very least pick up the damn cellphone and finally give her a long overdue call.
This morning, Hobby Lobby delivered this message in my email inbox–and I think it is such a beautiful reminder that we must believe in something unfathomable and sublime if we are to attempt to live our lives boldly and abundantly.
The day designated to celebrate the birth of Christ, the greatest gift of all time, is mere days away.
